Terms of service

These terms apply when you use doctor.ing (the “Service”), operated by [legal entity name] (the “Clinic”). By creating an account you agree to them and to our privacy policy.

1. What the Service is

doctor.ing is a virtual medical clinic. Licensed physicians registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia provide care by video, phone and secure messaging. A software assistant helps collect your history and organize documents; it does not practise medicine.

2. Not for emergencies

If you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. The Service is not monitored around the clock. Messages are answered during clinic hours.

3. Who can use it

You must be a British Columbia resident with valid MSP coverage, be physically in British Columbia during each visit, and be 19 or older, or a minor able to consent to their own care under BC law, or the legal guardian of the patient. You must give accurate information, including your legal name, date of birth and PHN.

4. Limits of virtual care

A video or phone visit cannot replace a physical examination. The physician decides whether virtual care is appropriate for your concern. If it is not, we will arrange an in-person assessment with the clinic's partner or refer you to in-person services, and you agree to attend. Some conditions require in-person care before a referral can be made.

5. Prescribing limits

The Clinic does not prescribe opioids, benzodiazepines, sleep medications such as zopiclone, stimulants or other controlled substances, and does not provide medical cannabis authorizations. Requests for these will be declined and you will be directed to in-person options.

6. Your consents

At sign-up you consent to receiving care virtually and to the assistant collecting your history before a visit. You may also be asked to consent to specific things during a visit. You can withdraw any consent by messaging the Clinic. We do not record visits.

7. MSP and charges

Insured visits are billed to MSP. We do not charge you for insured services. If a service is not insured (for example, some forms or notes), we will tell you the fee in advance and you may decline.

8. Your account

Keep your sign-in email secure. Sign-in codes are personal; do not share them. Tell us immediately if you think someone else has used your account. You may close your account at any time; the medical record is retained as the law requires.

9. Messages and results

The app is the place to read messages, results and documents. Emails and texts only tell you something is waiting. Results are released after a physician has reviewed them.

10. Acceptable use

Do not use the Service to obtain care for someone else without authority, to harass staff, to upload malicious files, or to attempt to access other people's information. We may suspend accounts that do.

11. Availability and changes

We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee it. We may change or discontinue features with notice.

12. Liability

Physicians are responsible for the care they provide under their professional obligations. To the extent permitted by law, the Clinic is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the Service, from technical interruptions, or from information you provide inaccurately. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada. Disputes are subject to the courts of British Columbia.
